They are available only to people not intending to use them for permanent residence. To ensure that this is the case, landlords/landladies have undertaken never to rent them out to the same person for more than 12 consecutive weeks.».
All such accommodation has been inspected by the Préfecture’s appointed agency, Manche Tourisme, to ensure that it conforms with current safety, hygiene, cleanliness and comfort regulations.
In addition to being classified by the Préfecture, furnished holiday lets can also belong to Gîtes de France (rural gîtes) or Clévacances (Clévacances furnished holiday lets), by becoming members of the Gîtes de France Association or of the Clévacances Association. These associations provide complementary and additional guarantees of quality, comfort and facility provision to those provided by the Préfecture’s classification.
These are furnished holiday lets offered by property owners, which have not been visited or assessed by an approved agency.
«Chambres d’Hôtes (Bed and Breakfast) are furnished rooms in people’s homes or annexes to their homes, where tourists are welcomed as paying guests for one or more nights. Breakfast is included in the service provision».
Bed and breakfast providers are registered with their local mayor’s office (legal requirement since 3rd August 2007).
